Be warned though, this feat is by no means for the faint-hearted as the initial fear of ending up looking like Golliwogs or worse almost gave me a nervous breakdown. So two very important things for those who want to try (Try! Try! :D) are:
- Find a reputable hairstylist – if your regular hairstylist is not experienced, do not risk your precious locks by being his/ her guinea pig. Like your colleague’s curls? Ask her where she had it done. Never go to an untried hairstylist for curls!
- Bring a picture – see curls you like in a magazine? Bring it with you. Although my curled hair looks nothing like the picture I brought, I still believe it helped the hairstylist gage the kind of look I was going for! :P
Here are some celebrity curls that helped me make my decision:

Lovely isn’t it? :D I love it!
To make curls, colouring or other hair treatment last longer, I usually refrain from washing my hair for at least five days after treatment. My last hair colouring – lasted two years! Of course there’s the necessary conditioning and no guarantees but it worked for me. I’d recommend refraining for two weeks but thats kinda gruesome hehe...

When I get tired of this, think I’ll go for a short crop like the very charismatic Rachel Weisz pictured here or sassy Halle Berry style :D
