They prepared so much food! It was an informal event where we gave a brief introduction and spoke to journalists about our planned journey.
It was the first time i saw a car driven into a shopping mall (i always did wonder how they did it hehe...) Here you can see it driven off after the launch.
We were then suppose to take off for Ipoh but the car needed some last fine-tuning so our take off was delayed. The car was finally ready just before 5pm so we rushed through peak-hour traffic to meet Patrick (who's so kindly chaperoning the car and us of course) in Subang.
Here we are trying to fit into the little VW Beetle with all our luggages. It was a very challenging feat.
We finally managed it! :D So off we went to Ipoh. The 30 year-old VW Beetle with a 1.6 engine and two carburators (don't ask me why) sputtered on to Ipoh without air condition. We enjoyed the cool evening air and ended up looking like this:
We finally got to Ipoh at around 9.30pm and rushed ourselves to Jusco Ipoh who generously hosted us. The response wasn't very encouraging but we did get some signatures. After that Patrick's friend in Ipoh - Mr Lim - took us to dinner and helped us find our hotel.
He was getting directions from the hotel staff and we were told they are right opposite The Store. So we drove to The Store in Ipoh but did not find the hotel. Upon calling them back they go through the directions again and turns out --- the hotel was in Taiping! Hahahhaaa...
hilarious!
Since it was late we decided to check into the nearest decent hotel so with my recent Ipoh experience we spent the night at Ipoh City Hotel :D
